Our Unbelieving Friends Here In Kazakhstan                                         back to Heinz Homepage

Last Updated:   1/20/2008

Please use this page to pray for our unsaved friends here.  Most of them do not have their photos on this page.  Here is a list of the ones who do not:   Alma and family (The association president at our apartment building), Molly's pork-seller at the market, Meiram and family (The lady we get our apartment heating bill from every month), Nazerke and family (The lady who we used to pay to wash the stairs at our apartment building), "Dernoi" (the seasonally crazy guy who we pay to wash the stairs now), all of our former English club students, the many sellers we know at various markets, and Azhar (our 34 year old hair cutter who is now pregnant and single).

Right:  Goolmira (in pink) and Yerbol (in orange)

We met Goolmira in 2001.  She was in our English club for 2 years. (See photos of Goolmira in 2001 and 2003 below)  She was and continues to be full of questions about God and the Bible and Jesus Christ.   We have presented the Gospel and talked about Jesus Christ with her for many dozens of hours over the years, but she is not a believer yet.  We have tea or dinner together a couple of times a year.  In 2007 at her request we began seeing more of each other and of her husband Yerbol.  He is a narcotics policeman.  He enrolled in the police academy when he was 18.  All of the instruction was in Russian and he didn't speak a word of Russian when he started.  But he stuck it out and did well.  He will be retiring from the force in Mid March after 20 years and looking for work in the private sector.

Below Left and Right:  Our neighbors.  Eyesha with Molly.  Javeet with his daughters Nargeeza and Voosala and his niece.  The family is doing better since Javeet switched jobs and was able to move back to Almaty.  Eyesha is sewing at the bazaar.  The oldest girl (Nargeeza) got married in 2007.  Voosala is in college now and driving her dad's silver Mercedes around town.  Pray for their salvation.

At Right:  Ira Ida and her family (except for her youngest Noorik.  Ira Ida was our Kazakh teacher for 2 years.  We see her about once a year now.  She moved to Astana in 2007 and is currently teaching the upper level Government Ministers Kazakh.  Her oldest girl (Eyenoor) is married with children.  Sawle (in white) is studying at university in China.  Pray for salvation.

At Right:  Samat and Laili.  Laili cooked for our ministry center pensioners lunches for about 9 months.  Then she took a full time job as a graphic designer for a local ad paper.  Samat is a surgeon.  Please pray for salvation and the strength of their marriage.

Right and Below Right:  Building relationships at our Ministry Center.  Karowbek, Maria, and their son Adil (which means faithful in Kazak) had us over for Sunday "tea".  As you can see this is more than tea but Kazakhs are masters of hospitality!  We really like this family and hope to become better friends.

This family has moved away to build a house.  Maria's sister is a believer.  Pray for their salvation.
