Church Plant In Kalkaman 2006 2004

We started holding Sunday services in our home in Kalkaman on September 26, 2004.  This was the culmination of 6 years of preparation including 5 years of ministry in Kalkaman.

Right:  Sunday Services Begin In Kalkaman.  We started holding Sunday services in our home in Kalkaman on September 26, 2004.  Lord willing, this will one day become Living Word Bible Church.

We hold our prayer meeting after service.  After the prayer meeting we usually share a meal together.  During the week we have men's and ladies Bible study.  I am training one of our men (Byeram).  He studies two days a week.  Byeram hopes to take on more responsibilities as time goes on according to his giftedness.  He leads worship and prayer time.  In March and April of 2006 he will teach 1 Thess for five weeks.  He and I have been going through that letter together in our one on one meetings.

Below:  Our Building In Kalkaman.  We purchased this building on September 22, 2004.  It is located about 2 miles from our house and 3/4 of a mile from our ministry center in a Kazakh speaking area of Kalkaman.  Most of the homes in the neighborhood are less than 4 years old.  Since it takes most people 10-20 years to finish their houses that means that most of them are works in progress.   Fourteen months after purchasing this building we are getting close to finished.

Left and Above: Sunday Services in Kalkaman.  Some Kazakh's prefer to sit on the floor so we have an area set aside for them.

Our Sunday Schedule starts with an hour of informal fellowship before service.  We have a prayer meeting and a fellowship meal (pictured below) every week after service.

We are not  a church yet by the Biblical definition, since I am the only elder.  Legally, we will not be a church until we have registered as a church with the government of Kazakhstan.   In July of 2005 Kazakhstan passed a law which made this country one of the 15-20 countries in the world who require the registration of churches.  You can read more about this at:

Registering a Church under the New Law On Religion.

Read about the increasingly difficulty (due to the political climate here) of obtaining visas to remain in Kazakhstan at:

Hostility toward Humanitarian Foundations and other NGOs.

Read about the process we must go through when we obtain visas at:

The Road to Bishkek: How we spent our summer vacation getting visas.

Our small fellowship is learning to submit to God's Word.  Although the believers who attend our fellowship in Kazakhstan are young in the faith, a wide variety of false teaching has infected their thinking.
