This was our first baptism. We decided not to go to the lake because it is still too cold at this time of year. That meant that we needed a pool. |

As Lucy said: "My baptism was just like the one in the movie: My Big Fat Greek Wedding, minus the oil." We didn't want to risk filling the pool upstairs so we had the baptism in the basement of the church. We put the pool in one room near the door and set up chairs in the other room on the other side of the doorway. Then we put up a blue tarp for a backdrop and a white tarp over the doorway. We cut a window in the white tarp so that we could see the pool but not the floor and wrapped the doorway to make it look "nice". (As it turned out the pool did leak but only a little.) |

| We didn't exactly have "traditional" white robes, but they are sort of like bridesmaid dresses anyway. You can't use them again after the baptism. So we decided to buy some good quality white bathrobes from Germany. The girls can use these for many years to come. Earlier this year we did a 5 week workshop on Sundays where everyone prepared their written testimonies. We had Lucy and Amanda's translated to Russian for the service. I taught a lesson about the meaning of baptism before the baptism. Then the girls each read their testimonies in English as the congregation followed along in Russian. Lucy went first, followed by Amanda. Join with us in praising God for this reenactment of what the Holy Spirit has already done in the lives of Lucy and Amanda. See photos below. | ||
