Church Plant In Kalkaman 2005 2007

Pray for our fellowship to delight in and live for the glory of God.

General Information about our Fellowship

We started holding Sunday services in our home in Kalkaman on September 26, 2004.  This was the culmination of 6 years of preparation including 5 years of ministry in Kalkaman.  We hold our prayer meeting after service.  After the prayer meeting we usually share a meal together.  During the week we have men's and ladies Bible study.

2006 Highlights

You can read more about everyone in our fellowship at the following link. Photos and Profiles of Regular Attenders 2006.  What follows are the headlines of what has happened this year.   I am training one of our men (Byeram).  He studies two days a week.  Byeram hopes to take on more responsibilities as time goes on according to his giftedness.  He leads worship and prayer time.  In March and April of 2006 he began teaching 1 Thess.  He preached for 11 weeks this summer when we were on furlough in the US.  We returned to Kazakhstan in late September.  Misha and Yulia moved out of the church into their own home.  They are expecting a baby in November.  Two of our early converts finished 2 years of alcohol rehab and have joined us back in the outside world.  The first is Kooderbye who is now the new church caretaker.  The second is Goolnara.  Two of her sisters are newly saved and they have also joined us with their two children.

We are currently completing some remodeling projects on the church to prepare for winter.  We will also start our church registration process later this year.  In May we held our first baptism. See:  Baptism 2006To see the current building click here:  Building Tour

You will find many more details in the photos, text, and links below.

Below:  Our Building In Kalkaman.  We purchased this building on September 22, 2004.  It is located about 2 miles from our house and 3/4 of a mile from our ministry center in a Kazakh speaking area of Kalkaman.

Before: Sept 2004

After: Next 5 photos

Most of the homes in the neighborhood are less than 4 years old.  Since it takes most people 10-20 years to finish their houses that means that most of them are works in progress.

Freedom of religion is still severely limited in Kazakhstan.   In July of 2005 Kazakhstan passed a law which made this country one of the 15-20 countries in the world who require the registration of churches.  You can read more about this at:   Registering a Church under the New Law On Religion.  Legally, we became a church on May 7, 2007.  This enables us to meet and teach legally.  But, Biblically, we are not a church, since we do not yet have more than one elder.
